A private art commission as a 70th birthday gift of the famous and much loved Iron Horse Bar. Located in Glasgow's city centre. Sadly now abandoned awaiting demolition to make way for a hotel.
History of The Iron Horse pub, 115b West Nile Street, Glasgow. Dates from 1872. Previously known as The Empire Bar, Furlong's and Metro.
Conveniently situated for the city’s entertainments, it proved popular with theatre and cinema goers, as well as the tartan army. There was a railroad theme throughout the interior as it was based on the famous 19th century American Railroad.
Special details in this art commission include a small chef at the window (inspired by the Witches movie by Roald Dahl) a poster of the art itself, an original chef's special menu (supplied by the client as the recipient was a chef there), a metal "iron' horse, and a model steam train - the bar featured many details relating to old steam trains such as train themed furniture, lights, and posters. The name Iron Horse actually refers to a large US steam train.
